HISTORY OF PUNJAB SEVAK SABHA

Punjab Sevak Sabha, founded in the year 1967, the period when the society was barely having any development and progress. Especially for the Ulhasnagar, the struggle for the existence was more difficult as it was a new separation area and with less population. This was the time when few of the Punjabis having an urge to do something good for the society, realized that they should do something for the society.

A day in 1969, when the world was celebrating the 500th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birthday, became the utmost important in the history of Ulhasnagar. As members of the sabha came forward and established the committee named “ PUNJAB SEVAK SABHA “ that can spread the teachings, values and learnings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in the society. And what can be the best way to do this other than the education. So finally they set up the school with blessings of Nanak Dev naming as GURU NANAK SCHOOL with the motive to spread the values and knowledge in the society.

Till 1972, the school ran with KG section only. But with the dedication of the staff, students and extra positive response from the society, Sabha started with Secondary section as well, renaming as “GURU NANAK HIGH SCHOOL “. The journey went with amaze and success to such an extent that with the special requests from students and parents of the school, Sabha thought of opening an junior college as well under the same frame and they put their thoughts into actions in the year 2003 and came up with “GURU NANAK HIGH SCHOOL AND JUNIOR COLLEGE” that ran only commerce in the beginning but came up with Science as well in the year 2016.

Enlightening and imparting the values of education and knowledge in the society and with the blessings of our Guru Nanak Dev Ji, we never realized that we had completed the journey of over 50 years proudly and happily. Starting with the handful of students, although with Punjabi minority we feel proud and stand apart that today we have strength of more than 1000 students and have become multi-cultural, respecting and celebrating each and every culture.

I am S. Surjit Singh Saini, President of Punjab Sevak Sabha, Ulhasnagar. I have Matriculate from Punjab University in 1968 and then I joined Indian Army in January 1969 I actively participated in war with Pakistan in 1971. After war Pakistan divided in two parts one Bangladesh and other Pakistan.

S. Surjit Singh Saini – PRESIDENT

I am S. Surjit Singh Saini, President of Punjab Sevak Sabha , Ulhasnagar .

I have Matriculate from Punjab University in 1968 and then I joined Indian Army in January 1969 I actively participated in war with Pakistan in 1971. After war Pakistan divided in two parts one Bangladesh and other Pakistan. After end of the war Indian Government decrease the strength of Indian Army as Bangladesh Border was safe after war. So my dream was over for fighting a war against Pakistan. I resigned from Army.

After this I Joined Cycle Parts co. at Management post in 1974. After Completing one year I decided to come over Mumbai and Joined Indian Aluminum Co.( Hindaloc Birla Group ) in 1975. After completing service of 32 year I retired in 2008.

I Joined Punjab Sevak Sabha in 1979 as Managing Committee member in 1993 and was elected as joint Secretary in 2004. S.Gurnam Singh, former General Secretary resigned from the post as he shifted to Punjab. Then I was elected as a General Secretary of Punjab Sevak Sabha in 2010 and served till 2022. In 2022 I was elected as president Since then I am serving as president.

S. Harjinder Singh Seehra – SECRETARY

I was born & brought up in Ambernath. Qualification SSC. In the year 1980 I was recruited in Air force. I left that opportunity as I wanted to settle down in Canada. But came back within 4 months to India & joined my father’s firm SEEHRA ENGINEERING WORKS were I worked for 17years. After getting an experience of 17 years I decided to start my own business and in the year 1996, I started my new factory SEEHRA COACH BUILDERS. Since then I didn`t look back and started 1st & 2nd unit in the year 2003. The 3rd unit manufacturing Chemical Plant Equipment’s & Special Purpose Vehicle Bodies was started in the year 2010. The factory is registered with Bureau VERITAS Certification under ISO 9001: 2015.

I am also interested in serving society and to fulfill my desire I joined Rotary Club in the year 2005. I am an active member of the club since then handling various responsibilities of the club. I was appointed as a club secretary in the year 2009-2010 and was a Silver Jubilee President for the year 2018-19 of Rotary Club of Ambarnath East.

Beside above all I am committee member in Additional Ambernath Manufacturing Association. I am Secretary in Gurudwara Shri Gurunanak Sabha & Gurunanak Public English High School Ambernath and President of Ramgarhia Baradri Kalyan (Palava to Bhiwandi & Dombivli to Badlapur). I was Treasurer since 1998 to 2022 in managing Committee of Punjab Sevak Sabha Gurunanak High School & Junior College, Now I am the Secretary of Punjab Sevak Sabha Gurunanak High School & Junior College.

S. Sukhdeo Singh Soor
TREASURER

I, Sukhdeo Singh Soor, was born in 1954 in Jamshedpur. At the age of 3, our family shifted to Calcutta. I did my graduation in BSc from Calcutta University and for further professional qualifications I obtained a Diploma In Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from The Calcutta Technical Institute.

S. Sukhdeo Singh Soor – TREASURER

I, Sukhdeo Singh Soor, was born in 1954 in Jamshedpur. At the age of 3, our family shifted to Calcutta. I did my graduation in BSc from Calcutta University and for further professional qualifications I obtained a Diploma In Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from The Calcutta Technical Institute.

On the professional front, I began my career as a Junior Engineer in Ravjeet Engineering Specialist Pvt. Ltd, Pune in 1978 and later on shifted to Mumbai in 1981 on being appointed as an Engineer with Fouress Engineering (India) Pvt. Ltd. leaders in the field of Industrial Valves in India.

 

Further giving a boost to my career was my selection as Senior Engineer, Incharge of Machine Shop and Production Head of Moulding Machine Division of Westerwork Engineers Ltd., a pioneer in Foundry Machinery, Heat Treatment Furnaces and industrial Boilers in India.

After the closure of Westerwork in 1990, I was appointed as Divisional Head, Mumbai Region of Unitherm Engineers Ltd. a company of repute in the similar field.

I left Unitherm Engineers Ltd in 1995, and set up my own manufacturing company L. S. ENGINEERING CORPORATION, specializing in Foundry Machinery and equipments. Over the years, we gained reputation and sold machines throughout India and abroad.

On the Social Front, I took part in Community Interface in various ways and joined The Punjab Sevak Sabha as a committee member, an institution involved in furtherance of education and imparting good values to the younger generation. My dedication and participation in the daily activities of the Sabha, got me elected to the post of Joint Secretary in the year 2012 and continued till 2022.

When the tenure ended in 2022, a new committee was elected and I was chosen for the post of Treasurer. I continue to contribute to the growth of the Sabha by participating in introduction of effective methods of management in the ever-changing scenario.
